Sven Yrvind is, I find, a very interesting sailor. Some years ago he began building a 10’ boat for circumnavigation. That project failed in so far as the 10’ boat was not completed, but along the road it inspired Sven to embrace boat building in a very unique way. So I like to check in with Sven Yrvind blog when I need ideas.
It has been a while, but this morning I visited his blog and found the following quote:-
At sea I feel “...deep fundamental emotions that I am not able to feel on land. Civilization has removed me from my childhood’s nature on the island I grow up on. The world has changed, but the endless, blue, wet, deep ocean is still the same as when Iwas young. I am fine in my workshop, but outside its walls I am nostalgic for things past“. Sven Yrvind.Ooh I do love reading people’s expressions of their love of the sea, and their dislike for modern life ashore. I would never express a love of the open ocean because I have never transitted one. I have sailed out of sight of land though, and was very pleased, relieved, peaceful, relaxed and liberated by the experience. Thank you a Yrvind.
